20+ Amazing April Newsletter Ideas for 2025

Spring has officially sprung as April gets underway. We’re in that sweet spot where people are just getting the itch for beach season but are still enjoying the longer hours, brighter days, and warmer weather of Spring.

This April, let the season breathe fresh life into your email marketing. The second quarter of the year has just begun, so even if you had a lackluster start to the year, there’s still plenty of time to turn your ship around.

However, it all depends on what you do now, and bolstering your email marketing will surely help you attract more social media followers, website traffic, email subscribers, sales, and conversions.

Unsure where to start? I get it – it can be tough! Luckily, I’ve dug through the calendar to share some April newsletter ideas that can help your marketing get those elusive signups 😅

20+ Amazing April Email Newsletter Ideas for 2025

Now, let’s get right into it.

1. Trick your subscribers with a totally real* offer on April Fools’ Day

We can’t talk about April marketing and not mention April Fools’ Day, can we? Anyone old enough views all posts on this day with an eye of suspicion, but we can still have good fun and even catch some people off guard.

You can announce a fake product, say that you’re renaming your company, or introduce something completely bizarre. But make sure to not be crass and clarify that it’s a joke either in the email itself (somewhere in small print) or in a follow-up the next day.

Here’s a sample April Fools’ newsletter by EngageBay. It features a clearly fake product at a too-good-to-be-true discount. You can edit this template for free and add your own twist.

Just remember to do something nice for your customers after they click. For example, you could actually offer a real discount on April 1st, but clarify that it applies to your usual products. No mood-enhancing powers here, unless they really love your brand.

2. Show you care with Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month, and April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day. This one’s not about pushing offers. It’s about showing kindness and understanding.

You could share a helpful resource, highlight an organization doing great work, or even just send a quiet message of support. It does not have to be long or emotional. Just thoughtful.

If you want to go a step further, consider donating a small part of your April sales to an autism-focused nonprofit and let your subscribers know. You never know who might appreciate it more than they say.

3. Share healthier habits for Stress Awareness Month

April 1st begins Stress Awareness Month, which includes National Stress Awareness Day right after Tax Day.

Obviously, we’re all aware of what stress is and what causes it, but what do you do to minimize stress in your day-to-day life? We could all use tips on how to do that.

You can use this as the theme of your newsletter, providing your best pointers on busting stress to improve well-being and physical and mental health.

4. Use your green thumb on Lawn and Garden Month

As the last frost is finally behind us, it’s time to dig out your gardening gloves and tend to your greenery again. It just so happens that April is also Lawn and Garden Month.

Nurseries and plant stores will be in heaven across these 30 days, as you have an entire month to promote new plants and accessories, like pots, fertilizer, gardening shears, and gloves.

The second week of April is Garden Week, and the month is packed with plant-themed days you can use for your emails:

  • International Plant Appreciation Day on April 13ᵗʰ
  • Mushroom Day on April 16ᵗʰ
  • Herbalist Day on April 17ᵗʰ
  • Earth Day on April 22ⁿᵈ
  • Arbor Day on April 26ᵗʰ
  • Greenery Day on April 29ᵗʰ

You have plenty of opportunities throughout the month to send emails related to plants.

5. Run a sale that feels like spring

People are finally stepping out into the sun again, and you can match that energy with a bright, limited-time Spring Sale.

No need to complicate it. Pick a few seasonal items or bestsellers, give them a clean visual refresh, and offer a small but irresistible discount. You can call it a spring cleaning or giveaway event like the email template below, or just keep it simple with a “fresh start” theme.

Pair it with a cheerful subject line and you’re good to go. It’s a small nudge that can bring in fresh traffic right when people are ready to spend.

6. Acknowledge your experts on Administrative Assistants Week

Another longer-running theme to build into your April newsletter is Administrative Assistants Week. Administrative Professionals Day on April 24th (the date varies from year to year) is built in.

This is an excellent time to heap extra appreciation on your admin assistants, making them feel like the rockstars of your office. After all, they do a lot to keep your company afloat and are like the unsung heroes of the business world.

Besides internal appreciation for these pros, spread the love outward. Many of your customers are probably administrative assistants themselves, so consider giving them a discount code to show you care.

7. No singing the blues on National Karaoke Week

April has a lot of monthlong holidays, with International Guitar Month one of them. You can use this 30-day special occasion for discounts on your instrument stock if you’re a music supply shop.

The end of April is also National Karaoke Week. What better way to get into the spirit of May than by bidding April adieu and belting out your favorite song?

Okay, so what in the world does this have to do with April newsletter ideas, you ask? Simple! You could prevent your customers from having the blues by offering a one-day sale.

You could also host a karaoke contest where your customers submit videos of them singing along to the hottest tracks.

8. Send a sweet surprise for Easter Sunday

Easter’s a great excuse to send something soft and cheerful. Even if your brand has nothing to do with chocolate or bunnies, you can still make something fun out of it.

You could run a virtual egg hunt, hide a discount code somewhere in your email, or just put together a pastel-themed product bundle. Keep it light, keep it playful.

Here’s a simple Easter email template by EngageBay that you can customize and make your own for free:

9. Have a ball on International Fun at Work Day or Don’t Go to Work Unless It’s Fun Day

April has two holidays that glorify slacking off: International Have Fun at Work Day on the 1st and Don’t Go to Work Unless It’s Fun Day on the 3rd.

Yes, these are real holidays!

Depending on what your customers do for a living, they may or may not have fun at their jobs. One thing’s for sure. You can make their jobs more fun on April 1st and 3rd by sending them an exclusive freebie or discount code.

This is a nice change of pace from what everyone is expecting on April 1st, aka April Fools’ Day, which is pranks.

I would recommend clarifying in your email copy that you’re not joking around, as people are conditioned to be weary on this day.

10. Make your customers smile on Find a Rainbow Day

If April showers bring May flowers, all that rain will surely lead to a rainbow. You can help your customers find theirs on April 3rd, Find a Rainbow Day.

How? In a few ways!

You can ask customers to take photos of a rainbow that day and post them under a special hashtag you create. You could hold a contest and let your customers choose the best rainbow photo.

Or, if you ran out of time for those marketing ideas, you could always announce a sale through your newsletter. At least you know it works!

11. Engage in World Health Day

World Health Day on April 8th is one of the most important days on the calendar.

We all need to take care of our health, as there’s only one us. While doctors, medical clinics, nursing homes, and other facilities will have the most clout by sending an email newsletter with recommendations for more healthful living, other industries can also capitalize.

Fitness instructors, gyms, and personal trainers can offer expertise on how to be healthier through diet and exercise, perhaps providing printables for the kiddos, as seen here.

By embedding a video chat API into their websites, these professionals can also offer real-time, interactive sessions, broadening their reach and enhancing client engagement. Don’t forget that health doesn’t only encompass the physical. Therapists, counselors, and other mental health professionals can also offer their advice on how to improve mental health all year long.

12. Have a contest for Draw a Picture of a Bird Day

April might not have as many strange holidays as March, but some are a bit odd. Take, for instance, Draw a Picture of a Bird Day on the 8th.

There’s nothing more to do on this day than…draw a picture of a bird. What did you think I would say?

So, why not make what would otherwise be just another day into an occasion to email your contacts? You can host a contest where your audience draws a bird, and the best picture wins a prize.

It’s a fun, small, and silly way to connect with your audience, but every bit counts.

13. Don’t miss National Pet Day

National Pet Day only comes once a year, and while we have many other holidays to celebrate our favorite four-legged friends, this is the big one. It’s on April 11th.

I love this idea from the Parachute. Clever headline, dogs in bedding, what’s there not to like?

You can send an email earlier in April asking your audience to submit their favorite pets. Then, you can put the top-voted animals through a tournament, where the ones who acquire the most votes move on.

Eventually, you’ll have a one-on-one battle to declare the best pet, who will be your company’s mascot for National Pet Day!

14. Inspire curiosity on Take a Wild Guess Day

Around the same time your income taxes are due is Take a Wild Guess Day. It’s always nice to distract your customers from having to pay the tax man and acknowledging this fun, the easy-to-enjoy occasion is a great way to do it!

As the name implies, Take a Wild Guess Day is about throwing something at a wall and seeing what sticks. You could take a picture of jelly beans in a tub and ask your customers to guess how many are in there.

If you decide on that contest, cross-post it to social media. Then, sit back and have a field day, watching the lightning-fast responses as people eagerly try to guess the exact number.

Of course, they aren’t doing it in vain. You should reward the winner and a few runners-up who guessed close with your new product or service.

15. Make it better on That Sucks Day

Alternatively, you can acknowledge That Sucks Day on April 15th. While lots of people will lament their taxes on this day, the occasion is for unloading about anything in life that’s bringing you down.

You might not have a cure for all of what ails your audience, but you can help by offering a sale.

You can decide how much to slash prices, like 10, 20, 30, or even 40 percent off, to make it all better.

16. Find the best doppelgangers on Look Alike Day

April 20th is Look Alike Day, a great chance to showcase your customers and their unique traits. Send an email a few days before the occasion asking for their photos of them and their doppelgangers.

If they’ve never met their doppelganger, like a celebrity, but are told they’re the spitting image, they should submit a side-by-side image.

You can make this a contest if you want, or, later in the month, share all the look-alike photos your audience submitted in a follow-up email (you can and should also post these photos on social media!).

17. Do our planet a favor on Earth Day

In the US, April 22nd is when we acknowledge Earth Day. Today is an occasion for somber reflection, action, and change.

Producing a traditional, straightforward newsletter about the importance of Earth Day is a great idea this time around. You can spread awareness or show how your brand engages in sustainability, such as in this email by Bite.

You can also start a donation for Earth Day or get your customers to take a green initiative pact. Plant shops, floral stores, and nurseries can encourage audiences to plant trees and make the earth a better place.

18. Do something bold on Take a Chance Day

You only get one chance in April for something crazy, and that’s on Take a Chance Day on the 23rd. This is the signal you’ve been waiting for if you’ve wanted to try closing a deal or re-engaging with your audience.

Use this opportunity and capitalize. If it goes well, keep that forward momentum going, and if it doesn’t, try to learn from it and discover what you can do better next time.

19. Speak your truth on National Honesty Day

Business transparency is more important to customers than ever. Perhaps you can use National Honesty Day on the 30th to provide full disclosure between you and your audience.

Whether you explain your origins, go behind the scenes on your business practices, or update your communication guidelines to comply with the GPDR and other regulations, all are smart moves. After all, you know what they say – honesty is the best policy!

20. Celebrate books, art, and creativity

April is packed with so many days that are perfect for sending thoughtful and creative emails.

  • Start with Children’s Book Day on April 2. Share a few favorite kids’ books from your team or run a small giveaway. If your audience includes parents or educators, this one’s a winner.
  • From April 6 to 12, it’s National Library Week. Give your local library a shout-out or share a book that shaped your brand.
  • On April 23, use World Book Day to talk about your favorite reads. You can even pair it with a fun nod to Shakespeare Day and sign off with a dramatic line.

Here’s a bright, creative World Book Day newsletter example that highlights authors, genres, and even new releases. You can easily adapt this to fit your brand:

  • April is also National Poetry Month, so you can start a newsletter series talking about poems from different eras. Poem in Your Pocket Day on April 18 is also a great time to share a short poem like The Red Wheelbarrow.
  • Finally, if your business is even a little visual, World Art Day on April 15 and Design Day on April 27 are perfect for showcasing creativity. Share artwork, behind-the-scenes design stories, or just something beautiful your audience would enjoy.

21. Appreciate professionals all month
