A Macro is a set of instructions or a script designed to automate repetitive tasks, typically in software applications like spreadsheets or word processors. By recording a series of actions and replaying them with a single command, macros help improve efficiency and reduce the need for manual intervention. They are commonly used to streamline workflows, execute complex calculations, or perform repetitive tasks in a fraction of the time it would take to do them manually.
Task Automation: Enable users to expedite monotonous tasks in an application. For example, entering data, formatting, or even computation in Excel or Google applications.
Custom Commands: These can be built within software programs that direct certain tasks to run, thereby lowering the efforts of the user and reducing the errors.
Workflow Efficiency: Repeated operations are performed with the help of macros, as such actions enhance the productivity of key activities.
Time Savings: Repetitive tasks can be automated to cut time from the team's schedule and motivate them towards priority-driven tasks.
Consistency: Macros ensure that operations are performed uniformly and there are no interruptions in the set practice, reducing the chances of errors.
Productivity Enhancement: Help to decrease the amount of time needed to perform the tasks by individuals and groups.
Scalability: With the help of macro, one gets a template for large data sets or performs repetitive processes which is extremely scalable for dense projects.
EngageBay macros and automation use the same set of actions and conditions. However, the difference is that macro does not have a trigger event. It has to be started manually by execution.
Step 1: Once you have saved a macro, go to the ticket that needs to be executed.
Step 2: On the left panel, click the three dots (⋮) -> select Execute Macro.
Step 3: Choose from the existing list of Macros, based on the process you want to execute.
Step 4: Once done, select Execute.
